Because of a kind mention from Jeri Heiden at Smog (design) I worked on some tour logos for the rock band Bon Jovi. Thank you, Jeri. Excitable boy that I am, I jumped into high gear with what I thought were some cool visual ideas. Alas- they go to the digital file cabinet unused. The assignment was to “re-imagine” their existing logo, but not go to far away visually from what their long time fans would recognize. Here’s a taste of the look. Also a big thank you to Amy at Concerts West. (The second comp took a heck of a long time to draw.)
So I’m walking through the local bookstore the other day and whoa! Green Day book cover…nice. Even better they use my font UXB through out, both UXB Stencil and UXB Spray! I mean they used it on every chapter heading, cover and everywhere. Dookie! First time to see one of my fonts out in the wild. Love it.
Hugh Brown, of Heavy Industries, sends me this cover artwork that uses astroluxtype’s Sugarbang for the title font. Thank you, Hugh. You’re so rad, dude.

I was actually closer than it looks. Like an airplane beauty pageant as it passed in front of me in various directions.

Totally fascinated with this new technology. Wired Magazine’s October issue is “The Design Issue.” Check it out for a large in depth report on what’s coming. Like making parts for a broken washing machine control in your home office. Or toys that your kids design. Print them out in 3D and its playtime. CLICK
It was great to be part of The New 52 last year, long time client DC Comics called and asked me to work on a couple logos. Here’s my contribution, what fun!

In 09 I was doing some promotions, that I believe very few people actually had before their eyes. It ecrashed (ended) a few months later. To remedy that I offer these for your viewing pleasure (and somewhat my own.) Click to enlarge, for all the glorious details. At some point I will be back to doing these bi-monthly.
